Knitting and Crochet Classes
We run a variety of very popular knitting and crochet classes. If you want to learn a new skill or improve your techniques then see what we have to offer. The lessons take place in our shop and you can relax and work at your own pace.
Parking is available on Pocklingtons Walk on the meter spaces and single yellow lines - this is FREE after 6pm. Or there is Newarke Street multi storey and the small car park in front of the old Phoenix cinema.

LEARN TO CROCHET AN ANIMAL HEAD using Vanessa Mooncie's book Animal Heads

Learn the crochet techniques needed to make stunning trophy heads. These stuffed animals will be the talking point of any room and will wow and impress friends and family alike.
The course consists of making a mouse head and learning how to make the eyes for larger, more intricate animals.  This will give you the knowledge and know how to make lots of different species.
As well as learning the techniques and being given the materials to make a sweet little mouse, you will be given the Vanessa Mooncie Animal Heads book, which has ten fabulous animal trophy head patterns to crochet.

You will need to bring tapestry needle and sewing needle, scissors, 3mm and 4.5mm hook and your glasses if you need them!


Knitting Classes
Learn the dark art of Brioche with Christine
Brioche is a fascinating technique worked flat or in the round with double pointed needles to produce a thick, deeply ribbed reversible fabric showing the two different colours on each side of the work. Check out Stephen West (Westknits) on Instagram to see how fantastic it can look!

Beginners Knitting/ Improvers knitting
Beginners - This is for those of you who have never knitted. We can teach you to cast on and off, knit, purl, rib, moss stitch and anything alse that you might want to try.
We are also running Improvers alongside this beginners class
Improvers - this course is ideal for those of you who have done our beginners course. 
Also ideal for self taught knitters who want to progress from scarves and blankets!
You will make a size 0 - 6 month garment following a pattern and you will cover - 
Increasing and decreasing
Picking up stitches knitting a front band and button holes
Sewing, blocking and pressing
Basic cable stitch
Pattern reading
Yarn and needles provided.

Top down knitting

This allows you to knit with no seams! There are many patterns available that knit starting at the neck and work down the garment. We will look at the techniques involved in knitting jumpers and cardigans in one piece. You will never look back!


Sunday Classes
Domino knitting 
Learn this brilliantly versatile knitting technique, ideal for scarves, blankets, garments, great for using up your 
left overs. We will learn using double knit yarn, please bring 4mm needles and scissors and glasses (if you use them!)

Sock knitting  with Jean Baxter
Learn how to make socks using double pointed needles. 
We provide the yarn, pattern and a light lunch, tea and coffee, please bring needles (3.75 or 4mm DPNs) scissors and glasses (if you use them!)

Crochet classes
Beginners Crochet
This course is aimed at those of you who have never crocheted .before or have very limited experience. You will be taught basic skills and stitches including the double crochet stitch, half treble and the treble. You will learn how to crochet in rows and rounds, how to make granny squares and flowers.

Intermediate Crochet
Want to learn some new stitches? 
Sign up for our three session course and learn Ripple stitch, Basket weave stitch, Star stitch and Corner to corner stitch to make 4 soft decorative face cloths which you can wrap with a bar of soap or shower gel for a lovely gift or keep them for yourself!
You will get instructions, 4 balls of cotton aran yarn, please bring a 5mm hook and scissors
